Meet n Greet Series
The Tokai Japan Canada Society is proud to present the Canada Means Business "Meet n Greet" series.
Our organization is working hard to offer business-related content and events, and the new Canada Means Business series offers opportunities for business/corporate members as well as individuals and companies to learn about Canada and Japan relations, interact, network, and communicate with companies dealing with Canada or Canadians in Japan.
We have had two great speakers to date give very informative and entertaining presentations as well as our first and very successful business meet and greet event. We very much appreciate both of our volunteer speakers; all those who assisted in organization and of course all the people who were able to attend the events.
- June 18th:
Our local Canadian Consul, Allan Edwards gave a very informative and thought provoking presentation describing the current economic turmoil which is being felt not only in Japan and Canada, but worldwide, and the potential benefits of developing a Free-Trade Agreement between our two countries.
- August 27th 2009:
Following a well attended speech by our local consul, we followed up with our first business meet and greet. Almost 40 people attended the event which was held at Hotel Coms, and all attendees’ feedback was fantastic. A number of short presentations, individual introductions, great food and drink, and of course ample networking time made for a great night.
- November 5th 2009:
We were extremely lucky to have Ron Haigh, an Overseas Project Manager at Toyota Motor Corporation agree to come and speak about the history and development of TMC, and more importantly show us the trials the company has gone through to achieve its current success. Ron very effectively inspired the audience members with his enthusiasm and passion for Toyota. Never Give Up and Keep making things better. Kaizen!
AND OUR NEXT EVENT
December 2nd 2009 For our 2nd Canada Means Business Meet & Greet, we are very lucky to be partnering with SPIRITS, another organization which hosts monthly meet and greet networking events to provide guests a chance to network with a diverse number of business people. This will be a Christmas themed event; hence everyone will leave with a great gift.
This is a wonderful opportunity for Japanese and foreign business people to interact in both English and Japanese. Spirits, with its strong following will have many of its attendees present and we hope to see many faces from the TJCS side as well. A fantastic opportunity for all!
We look forward to seeing you there.

About the TJCS
The Tokai Japan Canada Society (TJCS) was established in November, 2004 to promote the development of social, cultural and commercial relations between Canada and the Tokai region of Japan (Aichi, Gifu, Mie and Shizuoka Prefectures). The TJCS is a not for profit organization that creates opportunities for its members to develop greater social, cultural and commercial relations with Canadian people living in the region.
It is our goal in 2009 to offer an abundance of opportunities to our business and corporate members, as well as the business community in the Tokai region affiliated with Canada or with Canadians in Japan.
